You are just right. I usually cook up these notes within a few minutes and don't turn back to do proofreading....

It does good on both the reader and author. Learning is a process of fighting agaist stupid and naive mistakes. If I see some people make mistakes, I will try to avoid the same mistakes. If I have ever been corrected by others, I will try not to repeat the same mistakes.

Tell a story here. In any case, I know how to use the word "confident" and "confidential". When I was still in China, I attended an international conference. One professor from Academia Sinica, who speaks fluent English( it is a rare case), made a very stupid mistake in his speach. He said " We are confidential that the conference will be a success." What he really meant is "We are confident". So many years have elapsed since that conference. I am probably the only one who can remember this. I have benifitted from this professor's mistake.     In my recent job interview, the first interviewer is a project manager who grew up from a Java programmer. He asked me some very detailed questions. Of course, I could not answer all of his questions. Eventually, I always caught up with him after his hints.

    After he got a general impression on me, he told me that he was very much impressed by my skill set. This might be a lie. Then, he said " I don't wanna bog you down. We have run out of the time. I am gonna walk you to somebody else. "

    Bogging somedoby down means dragging somebody into the muddy water. Or simply means beat somebody down. Indeed, it is not a big deal to bog down the interviewee if the interviewer keeps asking questions.

    I can give another example of using "bog down". We know that Vietnamese war. Actually, the US had been completely bogged down by the Vietnamese War and finally had to choose truce.
