My Cousin-in-law, Mei

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I cannot remember when I met my cousin-in-law. I only remember it was a school summer break. On my father’s insisting, I visited my uncle’s home. They lived in countryside. I hated to go there since it was very boring and tiring as a lot of relatives I never knew their names gathered and looked into me. That time my cousin just got married. So in the backyard I met his newly bride, Mei. At the first sight I liked her. She was not like other countryside girls. She was much pretty and confident. I remember she told me she hadn’t finish middle school. She wanted to go to school very much. She surprised me that she still could recite a lot of texts even for five or six years she never read them. I felt sorry for her. And I told her try to do something like apply normal school etc. I told her that she had such talents and very good gifts as memory, to waste was a pity.
Two years later, Mei graduated from normal school. She joined some daycare center. Soon she competed amateur singer contest in our small city and she beat other rivals.
Later she opened her own kindergarten. We were very amazed about her successes. We thought that was her best career and victory. But we were all wrong. She dismissed her kindergarten and left for south to pursue bigger fortune alone.
At that time, I was working at another city in the South. I earned not much but ease. I always wondered how she was, and I had a few times visiting her at her very simple room. Though my uncle was rich, she only brought her saving. She worked as sales and worked very hard to get more pay. My cousin could not understand why she gave up the easy life at home but enjoyed the tough life outside. So there was a lot scandals spread. But I never believe such scandals because I saw how hard she worked and how carefully she planed for each contract. For one or two years, she had no luck. So she moved to 深圳。
At that time, I disliked my job and tried to explore a new career. Maybe career was not true; I wanted to pursue more fortune. So I transferred to sales person. With hope that I had some relatives in very high position and had power, I assumed they would help me. But business was not so simple; I had no skills to deal with every kind of people. I could not read them and provide exchanges they expected. Though I met a few friendly dignitaries, there were free real lunches but no free lunch like fortune dropped. Finally, I gave up and totally dropped the idea of making easy money. When I was back to my previous profession, I was forced myself to like my job and really worked very hard to it. Since I had tried and failed in other fields, I knew what I should stand for.
The lesson was repaid in good result and it brought me here and established me as more independent. In this way, I struggled and survived. But I did not know how my cousin struggled and succeeded. With three years hard work, she owned her owner company with 2 million assets. It was not big fortune, but for a girl who did not know anyone there, it was not easy. She brought her whole family there and built the furniture business. For me, she was mysterious. And for her, to be proud, she told me she managed more than 20 persons most graduated from university. At the beginning, they looked down at her, now they just admired her. So her husband just teased me no point to go to university. But she asked me to persuade him to let their children go abroad to study later. She said it was hard for her to pursue her career abroad, but it should not be very difficult for her children if they want.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
