1 Call Toronto Public Work to turn off the main tap (on the curb of each house)
2 Call a plumber to fix the main tap inside my house. It's the city's responsibility to fix the metre, but it's your responsibility to fix the tap.

North York Public Work (for water only?): 416-395-6205 (Mon-Fri), 416-395-6333 (emergency)

When I first called the city (other number), they said it would cost me $15 to turn off, and another $15 to turn back on. But when I called public work, they did not mention this fee. See if I get charged in my water bill. Anyway, I have no choice.

如果是水表本身滴漏，打电话找市政府有关部门，通常他们会让你花钱找个有牌的水工来检查，当然要花几十刀，如果水工说是政府负责，政府可能会问你水工的号码，也有可能告诉你如果他们派人来了以后发现是你的问题，一切费用你自理。当然如果的确是水表问题，派来的人几分钟就换个新的。
如果政府不能免费更换的话，你可自己换，先将总进水阀关掉，然后换上新的球型阀，这样就一劳永逾了。 -gates(远帆); 2004-5-10 (#1717715@0)

不管怎样都要将进户的水关掉，在美国是不能用这种有橡胶垫的水阀作为总水阀，原因是橡胶易老化，并规定用球型阀还要在水表两端各装一个，这里嘛，你就随便凑合了。 -gates(远帆); 2004-5-11 (#1718879@0)
