A man wanted in connection with Saturday’s brutal kidnapping and knifing of a North York woman turned himself over to police early this morning.
The suspect walked into 32 Division at about 1 a.m. and surrendered, police said.

“We’re confident we have the person we were looking for,” said Staff Sergeant David Vickers.

Earlier, police described the suspect as an "extremely dangerous man" after a woman was kidnapped, tied up, driven three hours northeast of Toronto in her own car, then stabbed and left for dead in the deep bush near Bancroft.

The 21-year-old woman dragged herself from the bush on to a road and flagged down a passing car, Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Kristine Cholette said last night. "She was hurt very badly," the sergeant said. "But she fought her way out of the bush and flagged down a passing motorist. She is lucky to be alive."

The motorist took the bleeding woman to Bancroft Hospital, where doctors fought to stabilize her before she was transferred to Kingston General Hospital for further treatment.

"She is in stable but serious condition. Investigators are waiting to talk to her. She is stable, but hasn't been able to talk to officers completely," Cholette said.

The area she was found in was a "very back road" in the bush near Bancroft, about a three-hour drive from Toronto.

Toronto police Constable Kristine Bacharach said OPP officers were being helped in their investigation by detectives from Toronto's 32 Division, where the suspect surrendered.

The police division covers Tangreen Ct. near Yonge St. and Steeles Ave, where the victim's ordeal started.

"This happened in broad daylight, in a parking garage," Bacharach said.

Cholette said that at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, the woman was attacked in the underground garage in the area of Tangreen Ct. by a man.

"It was not random, but we are still trying to clarify the relationship of the attacker and victim," the sergeant said last night.

The woman was tied up, thrown into her own car and driven the approximately 250 kilometres to the Bancroft area, where she was attacked.

Charged is Chan Seng Tan, 34, of Yonge St. He was scheduled to appear in court today at 1000 Finch Ave., West.

The woman’s vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Rav4, has now been located.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
