I think it's useful for me while some of my classmates complaining a lot. They thought it's a kind of wasting time.
Then, you have to make cold calls to those companies which maybe provide your a co-op placement. Meanwhile your teacher is searching for you too.
My Co-Op placement was found by my teacher. I worked there for 1 month before I got a real paid job.
There were almost 30 people in my class, as far as I know, 3(satellite map, graphic design etc ) found a real job after making her cold calls, 2(computer programmer) began to work with payment after 8 weeks working as volenteers in their placement, 2 others(library, graphic design) found jobs during their Co-Op.
