完整步骤

以高级管理员的身份登录。
1.单击“Start”按钮，进入“Control Panel”窗口。
2.双击“Regional Options”图标。
3.在“General”标签下的 “Language settings for the system”列表框中选上“Simplified Chinese”。
4.单击“Set default...”按钮，在新弹出的“Select system locale”对话框列表中选择“Chinese (PRC)”，然后单击“OK”按钮。
5.单击“OK”按钮关闭“Regional Options”窗口。
6.系统此时将提示您需要Windows2000的安装光盘以复制必要的文件，请准备好您的Windows2000光盘并放置在您的光驱中，文件复制完成后Windows需要求重新启动计算机。
7.在做完以上步骤之后，如果仍然发现中文提示显示为乱码，您需要检查“Regional Options”窗口下的“Language settings for the system”列表框中 “Simplified Chinese”是否被选中，且标注为“Default”。

    I have bought a new laptop computer, and there is only windows xp inside (english versin), could any Daxia give me some advice on how to type chinese in this stupid computer, my wife and I really need to use chinese to communicate with our family. thx in advance!!!!

    • Not necessary to apply Chinese Language package. Simply go to Control Panel -> Reginal Settings -> Check the Chinese Language and set it as default. -lmx(Mashimaro); 2002-4-2 (#431486@0)

        I do as ur advice, everything goes smothly, but there is still no chinese appear, even in the welcome screen. I have choose chinese in almost every choice in regional & language. what shall I do next. Thanks again.

          Usually when you change default language setting, the IME will be added accordingly. If not, go back to Reginal Settings and add IME manually.
