    • I like both poems you posted. Where did u get them?
    • Since i really like it, now i can remember the followings: i want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself, if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul
      • My favorite line -- I want to know if you can live with failure, yours or mine, and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes."
        • Either you and or author is really brave.
        • not really my favorite, i was just reading this one. Good night
          Echoes
          (From Life and Death)
          William Ernest Henley (1849 - 1903)

Out of night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
          For my unconquerable soul.
          ......
          ......

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the matter of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul
          • I have decided to reserve some time for myself to enjoy poem(s) during the coming holiday weekend. :)
            Invictus
            by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

            For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

            Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.
