Post for a friend, who can provide VCR tape -> CD conversion service. Since quit a few ppl here asked about the service.

Convert home video to digital formats: VCD, mpeg-1, mpeg-2(DVD) and other
internet-friendly formats.

The advantage of conversion is obvious.

"After stored on CD media, your precious video will be preserved forever,
avoid using bulky video tapes and the risk of losing quality(video
tapes are good for around 10 years). Also much easier for distributing
your favorite video, such as wedding video, video for kidds.. among your
friends, as use them as gifts."

Each 700MB CD-R disc is good enough for one hour
VCD quality video. For higher quality, one disc is
probably only good for half an hour video. We will
charge 5 dollar for each extra disc necessary for higher
quality conversion.

We are glad to provide quantity discout, which is 15% discount
for 3 or more hours.

Here is some information about several possible formats:

VCD: MPEG-1 format, 44.1khz 16bit stereo, 1.6M bps. 1 hr is about 700MB.
DVD: MPEG-2 format, 44.1khz 16bit stereo, 3.2M bps, 1 hr is about 1.4 GB.

You can choose various data stream (bps). Higher bps corresponds
better quality. If you have a 40 min video, we will make a better
quality video than VCD format to fill a 700MB disc.
