Shutting the door on mother

Dear annie: My mother is the most manipulative person I know. When I married 25 years ago, my husband and i moved across the country to be away from Mom.

Last year , Mom retired and moved to our city. She bought a home a block away and our lives are a living hell. Mom calls me at least five times a day to say she's going to stop by. If I don't pick up the phone , she leaves a message that she's coming over. I have said it's not a convenient time, that we're eating dinner,that i have a headache,that my husband is sleeping--no excuse will deter her.
