What kind of power source does my new wireless transmitter require?

All wireless transmitters come equipped with a factory installed battery. The battery is designed to last for the lifespan of the wireless transmitter, and will never need to be replaced.
It has a wireless transmitter which runs on battery. I was told that battery lasts 100 years. It just admit a (few) signals once a quarter.

It has to be longer than that. Lutron has a battery powered occupancy sensor, which controls a light switch via wireless technology, the battery it claims to last 10 years.

That thing use a lot more frequently (it needs to be active all the time to detect + transmit) than the water meter transmitter.
So I'm not surprised if the water meter transmitter can last a long long time.
