Jabber's English Note---fuss

Sometimes ago, I wrote a note about the arranged marriage. One guy put a comment saying that parents always fuck about. I have been wondering why he wrote so. Now it seems I figured out the reason. I don't think that guy is rude. I think he made a typo there. I guess what he really meant is "parent always fuss about."

I don't know how to explain this word. But it is a common word in oral English. Fuss means to be busy with a lot of things without an order. If your kids runs from here to there, you may ask them: What are you fussing about?

Or, if you participate a party, and see the kids making a lot of mess, you may comment: The kids are always fussy.

Well, now if you are a 35-year-old Chinese girl and does not have a boy friend, your parents will probably fuss about. They may buttonhole relatives and friends and ask them to refer some young, single guys for you.

Trust me, "fuss" is really a useful word.

    • "... and see the kids making a lot of mess, you may comment: The kids are always fussy. " I don't agree with you about this. When one insists everything should be perfectly the way he/she wants,
and too focuss on details, you say he/she is "fussy".
