I agree with your contention but not your supports to it.

Absolutely to the point. But unfortunately many people can understand that only in suffering.

It is what I feel about Canada.I don't like the high-taxed, low-efficient and lazy country, which robs the rich and only helps the poor.

If both work, the child will be sent to day care, and sometimes two cars are needed. It'll cost about 1200. So you can not enjoy the whole earning your wife, but it's much better than just one work.

I don't think life is too tough for a person with a IT job. My monthly expense is less than $2200. ($1000 for renting an apartment, $400 for daily food , $190 for insurance of honda accord and $200 for gasoline). For experienced software designers, it is not difficult to get income more than 70K/year,after taxed it should be more than 42K/year.

I had tried it once, I hope it can help.Last year, I had to go on several business trips to Beijing, the first time, I didn't have time to apply for a Chinese visa(you have to wait for 1 week).Although my landing paper had already been stamped, I had a 10-year B1/B2 visa to US on my chinese passport, the visa expires in 2005. So, I went into China with my chinese passport, and when I left, I told the boder guys that I would go to US, just stopping by Canada, and they let me go without any problem. For later trips, I used canadian passport, along with the visa I got from chinese embassy(which cost company 76 bucks :)). I think it's safer to use your canadian passport with a valid L
visa.

One question: How long can you stay in China with that visa. Is there many different kinds of visa?

With my visa(L), I was allowed to stay for half a year, and the visa was double-entry, which means that you can use it for two entries into china .

true, those chinese border guys usually don't know what's going on in North America. My impression was that they only care about the period you stay in China.

The best way, I think, is that you can apply the "Permanent Residence of China". Iam not kidding.

I am living in OTTAWA and just hired a chinese girl from CarletonIf family income is more than 150k a year, it is very easy to find a great place to live in Ottawa.
3 bed-room house costs 150k - 220k. Rent a 3 bedroom townhome costs $950 - $1200 a month. It is not a big expense for your Nortel friends.
I am earning much less than that and I am paying $1150 a month for rent but I don't having the same feeling as yours.
