$60K is relatively low than that a few years ago. but It's in Canada. Low income, low expense. Are you living in rental or your own house (apartment, condo)? If you have your own house and other sorts of investment, $10K in the bank account is not that bad

' wangqq ' is right that it is a matter of balance. but in terms of family support, in some cases, one person's capacity is limited no matter how hard he works.Don't feel bad if you're a man! :-) In my opinion, Two working family members would be better than one.

If you had been working in US for a while, you should know the style, pay vs workload, etc.. If only one of you two works, the situation won't change much, i will have to say.

but, if you go to US, the change of the other one getting a job would be much highter than in Canada. It is eventually about balance of everything.

If you get a long term, at least 80k offer, then you may try it, otherwise, forget about it. Now, job market of US is not better then Canada. My IT friends in US are looking for jobs in China or moving back to Canada.
