i guess, J1 cannot adjust the status in US. Maybe J1 with wavier can. I am not sure.

You are right. J1 cannot apply "change of status". I am thinking of coming back by using my B1 and change my B1 to H1, if possible.

final wavier for sure. No objection letter is only used for applying for wavier.

For my case in Calgary, the old visa lady asked me nothing, 3 min for handling documents and asked me to get visa in the afternoon. I got multi-entry visa for three yrs.
