I hear a multi-entry visa is not necessary for crossing US-Canadian border, as long as you have a valid I94. But I never tried myself. Does anyong have this kind of experience?

They should give you when you enter US. Do take good care of it (it's a little piece of paper), as it's a important document showing your legal status in US.

Are you sure? Since I94 should be returned each time you leave US, unless you have a multiple entry stamp on it. Well, I don't know this, frankly.

At US-Canada border, no one takes back I94.

I am not sure if the 5 or 10-yr multi-entry visa is still available for Canadia PR. If it is, I don't think you need to worry about the I-94 thing. Better go check INS website for more and accurate details.

That's visitor's visa, not good for attending school. F1visa usually is valid for several months, but F1 holder's I94 does not have an expire date. So that's the trick.

I deleted my reply because I realized that mm1 didn't tell us enough information about her current status. Wish the following and the INS URL helps.

if u have car, to live in windsor is the right choiceconsidering the exchange rate, u spend ~100us$/mo crossing border, assuming u go there 5days a week, wayne state is ok, EXCEPT its location---Detroit downtown, for that regards, selecting windsor is a much better choice. if u live in surburb of usa side, it is even farther than commuting between 2countries.
